Exit the airport and turn left on to University Pky.  At the next light (hwy 41 or Tamiami Trail or 14th St, yes it has three names) turn right.  Follow 14th St or the Tamiami Trail to Cortez Ave.  At Cortez, turn left and drive to 75th St.  Turn right on 75th and drive to Manatee Ave (64). Turn left on Manatee and drive to the island.  It is about a half hour drive, depending on traffic.
