The following set of photos tell more of the island story

The Anna Maria City Pier, located in the city of Anna Maria on the north end of the island.

There is a restaurant, live music and fishing.

The Rod-N-Reel pier, also on the north end of the island,  is a local fishing hang-out and restaurant.  Fishing is very good from this pier.

Cafe on the Beach is a very popular eating place.  It is low key and right on the beach.

The beach on the island is 7.5 miles long and all open to the public.  It seems to go forever.  The waves are gentle and the slope of the bottom very gradual.   Since there is some much fine beach, there is usually an absence of crowds.

This volley ball net is at the public beach.

There is a fishing pier at the public beach.  The other three piers are on the bay side of the island.  This one is on the Gulf.

The public beach from the water

Katie Pierolla Park is a small Gulf Front public park, a nice place to watch the sun set.

Every year we have a sand castle contest next to the Beach House Restaurant.  These are some fabulous creations!

The Clock tower on the base of the Bradenton Beach fishing pier is a local landmark.

Bay Walk at Leffis Key on the island.  This is a nature walk through the mangroves along the bay

There are several marinas on the island.  You can rent boats, jet skis, kayaks etc

Longboat pass is on the south end of the island.  There is a nice public park and beach at the point.  Actually, all of the island beaches, all 71/2 miles of it are public.  There are no "Private" beaches on the island
This boat is heading out to the Gulf through Longboat Pass on the south end of the island
There are several parasail operators for hire on the island
